This page explains what personal information we collect through this website, why we collect it, who else handles it and what you can ask us to do about it. It is written in plain English on purpose.

Accountants For Property Limited is the data controller for the information described on this page. That means we decide what is collected and what happens to it.

What we collect, and why
When you ask for the guide
We collect your email address. We use it to send you the guide, and to add you to our mailing list so we can send you occasional updates on property tax for landlords. We tell you this on the form itself, before you hand the address over.
Our lawful basis is your consent. You can withdraw it at any time by using the unsubscribe link in any email we send you, or by emailing us. Withdrawing it stops the emails and does not affect anything we sent before.
When you book a call
Our booking page is run by Calendly. When you book, you give your name, your email address and the answers to any questions on the booking form, and Calendly records the time you picked. We use this to hold the meeting and to prepare for it.
Our lawful basis is that we are taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, and our legitimate interest in running the practice and responding to enquiries.
When you simply visit the site
Our hosting provider records standard technical information such as the IP address the request came from, the page requested, the time and the browser used. This is ordinary server logging and we use it to keep the site running and secure.
Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in the security and reliability of the site.
We do not run analytics, advertising pixels or visitor tracking of any kind on this site.
Cookies
This website does not set any cookies. There is nothing to accept and nothing to turn off, which is why you have not been shown a cookie banner.
If you click through to our booking page, that page is run by Calendly on its own website and Calendly may set cookies there. The same applies to the Mailchimp page you are shown after you ask for the guide, and to any Mailchimp page you reach from one of our emails. Those are covered by their own privacy notices, linked below.
Who else handles your information
We use a small number of well-known services to run the site. Each of them acts on our instructions, and each has its own privacy notice.

Because these providers are based in the United States, your information may be transferred outside the UK. Each of them offers transfer safeguards approved for use under UK data protection law, such as the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses.
We do not sell your information, and we do not pass it to anyone else for their own marketing.
We may share information where we are required to by law, or where we need to in order to establish or defend a legal claim.
How long we keep your information

Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:
- tell you what information we hold about you, and give you a copy of it
- correct anything that is wrong
- delete information we no longer have a good reason to keep
- restrict what we do with it while a question about it is sorted out
- send it to you, or to somebody else, in a portable format
- stop using it for direct marketing, which we will always do, immediately and without question
- stop relying on legitimate interests, where you object and we cannot show a stronger reason to continue

If you are not happy
Please tell us first, so we get the chance to put it right. If you are still not satisfied, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, which is the UK regulator for data protection.

Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your information we will update this page and change the date at the top. If the change is significant and we hold your email address, we will tell you by email.
